Huntington's New South Wales is the trading name of the Australian Huntington's Disease Association (NSW) Inc. The Association was established in 1975 to develop support and educational programs for people affected by Huntington's Disease in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory; to assist their families to understand and cope; and to give these families a strong single voice.
We are licensed in both New South Wales (Authority No: CFN13153 expires 10 February 2021) and the Australian Capital Territory (Licence No:19000873 expires 1 December 2019) to fundraise for our charitable purposes.
Our Australian Business Number (ABN) is 54 571 730 306, and we are endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient. Gifts of $2.00 and upwards to the Association are tax deductible in Australia.
We are an incorporated, non-profit organisation managed by a Board elected annually by our membership. The Association's President is Brian Rumbold.
The energies and resources of the Association are directed towards satisfying the needs of people with or at risk for Huntington's Disease and their families in NSW and the ACT by providing and/or facilitating delivery of a range of quality services.
The philosophy underlying all our services encompasses the principle that people with Huntington's Disease and their families are individuals with equal value to all other members of Australian society, with the right to treatment and care by knowledgeable professionals and care givers, the right to appropriate support services and the right to have the best quality of life possible.
The role of the Board is to set the strategic plan and budget for the Association. At the AGM on 18th November 2017, the following members were elected to the Board.
